Chief Executive Officer
Robert Musslewhite serves as CEO of Optum360. He joined Optum in November 2017 following the acquisition of the Advisory Board Company where he was appointed CEO in 2008 and chairman in 2013.
Prior to his role with Optum360, he served as CEO and president of Optum Analytics, and CEO of Advisory Board Research. Currently, Musslewhite oversees both Optum360 and Optum Analytics.
Under his leadership, The Advisory Board Company more than quadrupled in size, expanding its best-practice research foundation into analytics and technology. The organization served nearly every hospital and health system in the United States, as well as many life sciences companies, health plans and international provider organizations.
The Advisory Board Company became the partner of choice for health systems — collaborating with them to attract, retain and engage patients by offering the care they need; deliver the highest standard of care by instituting and consistently following proven protocols; and drive reimbursement to maintain the financial stability to serve their communities for the long term.
Prior to joining The Advisory Board Company, Robert was an Associate Principal with McKinsey & Company in the Washington, D.C., Amsterdam, and Dallas offices. He serves on the Board of Directors of Ascend Learning and is Chair of the Board of Governors of St. Albans School.
Robert holds a JD from Harvard Law School and an AB in economics from Princeton University.
President, Hospital Services Division
Paul Emerson is responsible for the strategy, execution, growth and delivery for all elements of Optum360 hospital products and services. Previously, Emerson served as chief operations officer, ensuring processes and infrastructure-supported growth and client needs.
Prior to joining Optum360, Emerson served as chief financial officer for OptumInsight and OptumHealth. His areas of responsibility included accounting and reporting, budgeting, financial planning and analysis, regulatory, investments and business risk management.
Emerson’s previous experience includes vice president of finance for Cardiac Science, a global manufacturer and distributor of cardiac-related medical devices. He also served health care clients as part of Arthur Andersen’s audit and business advisory practice.
Chief Financial Officer
Ben Goodman leads the development and evaluation of short- and long-term financial objectives, and oversees efforts that ensure the financial health of the Optum360 business.
His previous financial experience includes chief financial officer for the Optum provider segment and a senior leadership role in Optum corporate development.
Prior to joining Optum, Goodman focused on mergers and acquisitions, integration and financial risk mitigation strategies at Marsh and McLennan.
Goodman holds a Master of Business Administration, with a concentration in finance, from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota; and a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Saint John’s University in Minnesota.
President, Technology Solutions Division
Todd Gustin leads the Optum360 Technology Solutions Division, inclusive of the full portfolio of product, technology, content and professional services offerings, including overall profit and loss management.
Gustin is also responsible for client relationship processes and measurement programs that help ensure customer satisfaction and quality. Gustin has been with Optum360 since its formation overseeing its Technology Solutions business during his tenure.
Prior to Optum360, Gustin most recently served as a vice president in Optum Corporate Development, where he advised on mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, partnerships and joint venture transactions, many of which now comprise Optum360.
Before joining Optum 10 years ago, Gustin worked in technology investment banking, as Principal and Vice President in Piper Jaffray’s global investment banking group and previously with RBC Capital Markets where he advised on capital formation and strategic advisories for technology companies in North American, Europe and Asia.
Gustin holds a Master of Business Administration from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Colorado College.
Senior Vice President, Product Management
Chris Martin oversees of the Optum360 technology portfolio and product development. She recently led the Optum360 Revenue Cycle Technology Solutions Deployment and Support team, which provides delivery services and client support for technology solutions.
Martin’s team has been responsible for the delivery and support of new-to-market computer-assisted coding technology, as well as the creation of a standardized performance management program for the Optum360 portfolio of revenue cycle technologies.
Martin joined Optum in 2010 through the acquisition of Picis Clinical Solutions where she oversaw the Revenue Management Solutions business operations.
Previously, she was CFO and COO of LYNX Medical Systems, and was critical in positioning the company for sale on two successful transactions. She has a BA in economics from the University of Washington and an MBA from the University of Washington Foster Business School.
Chief of Staff
Ryan Murphy serves as chief of staff for Optum360, ensuring that the senior leadership team is effective in its strategy development, communication and execution to meet the organization’s business vision and mission.
During his tenure at Optum, Murphy served as general manager and held roles in business development and product development. Prior to joining Optum Physician Advisor Solutions, he served as general manager of Supply Chain Business Intelligence at the Advisory Board.
Previous to this position, Murphy served in various leadership roles with Endeavor Health Group and BearingPoint. He holds a bachelor's degree in government from Georgetown University.
Todd Van Meter
President, Ambulatory Services Division
As president of Ambulatory Services, Todd Van Meter and his team are responsible for delivering data- and technology-driven operational results for Optum360 Ambulatory and Medical Group customers’ revenue cycle.
He has more than 29 years of experience leading organizations that provide revenue cycle solutions to hospitals, health systems and physician organizations.
Previously, Van Meter was president of EOS Healthcare, senior VP for CarePayment, senior VP of sales and marketing for Convergent Revenue Cycle Management, and VP of operations and new business for McKesson Health Solutions Revenue Cycle Outsourcing Group.
Van Meter holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania. He is an active member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) and Medical Group Management Association (MGMA), among other organizations.
Chief Growth Officer
Jan Grimm has extensive sales, management and business development experience from both inside and outside of health care. Prior to joining the OptumInsight team, Grimm was vice president of Cerner DeviceWorks.
With responsibility for sales and business development strategies worldwide, Grimm oversaw Cerner’s managed services, and technology and medical device resales. He grew the DeviceWorks global business from $450,000 in 2006 to more than $150 million in 2010.
Prior to Cerner, Grimm spent 10 years with Accenture, a global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company in the telecommunications and technologies industries. He oversaw strategic planning, process and performance improvement, and operations.
Vice President, International Operations
As head of international operations, Dan Weaver enables and supports the growth of Optum360 by scaling and leading its global capabilities. Weaver has more than 15 years of experience developing and leading global resources for various companies.
Optum360 global teams provide scalable solutions, talent and infrastructure to existing businesses and address clients’ growing needs. Weaver is responsible for the stewardship of these professionals, focusing upon productivity, quality and customer satisfaction.
Weaver has broad expertise creating and shepherding high-performance leadership teams from more than 25 years of leadership experience in the health care and software industries and his military service in the United States Army.
Chief Marketing Officer
Susan Worthy leads marketing for Optum360, defining and executing marketing strategy. She has deep health care technology and services marketing experience driving growth, market differentiation, product marketing and client engagement.
Prior to joining Optum, Worthy was with Aetna where she served as vice president of marketing, population health technology solutions and vice president of provider marketing, accountable care solutions.
She has held executive leadership positions within sales and marketing with health care technology and services companies. Worthy holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and premedicine from The College of the Holy Cross.
