General Counsel and Corporate Secretary
As General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, Eric Peterson oversees all legal functions for Optum360. His areas of expertise include corporate governance, complex commercial transactions, health care fraud and abuse, M&A, privacy and security laws, reimbursement rules and appeals, and outsourcing for health care and IT functions.
Prior to his current role with Optum360, Peterson led legal teams for a number of other Optum® businesses, including Medicare risk adjustment, payment integrity, data analytics, clinical trials, and health care technology development and outsourcing.
Before joining Optum, Peterson advised health care providers and payers nationwide on a variety of legal and regulatory matters as part of a large law firm. He has also worked in public policy at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and as a clinical social worker in pediatrics. He has served on and led a number of nonprofit boards of directors.
Peterson received his law degree with high honors from the University of Washington in Seattle. He holds an undergraduate degree and Master of Science in social work from the University of Wisconsin and a Master of Public Health from the University of Minnesota.
